Since 2015 WOW ‘Wales One World Choir’ (formerly Oasis One World Choir) has welcomed people seeking sanctuary in Cardiff. Our choir is a lifeline for many people who are faced with restarting their lives in a new country; often in a language that is completely new to them. The language of music transcends these barriers, and our choir allows people to make new friends and build community together.
We have developed an innovative cutting edge approach combining the expertise of refugee and non-refugee facilitators. 80% of our main leadership team have lived experience of the asylum process and co-facilitate our music and dance sessions. Our performances and workshops are always inspiring and exciting due to our amazing global choir members WOW Choir is able to break down linguistic and cultural barriers and enable people who arrive here from other parts of the world to share and add to the culture, community and unity of Wales.
